The Jerwood Visual Arts Writer in Residence grant programme was created in 2010 to offer emerging writers an alternative platform for their work and to generate critical discussion around Jerwood Visual Arts exhibitions.There are three residencies per year, each covering two exhibitions in the main galleries and a Project Space commission.
2015’s Writers in Residence are…
Elinor Morgan is a Writer and Curator based in Birmingham, UK. Elinor has published numerous essays and interviews and regularly contributed reviews to Art Monthly. She is currently curating Gowlett Peaks and is ESP Programmer at Eastside Projects where she runs the gallery’s associate membership and public programme. Prior to this Elinor was Artists and Programmes Curator at Wysing Arts Centre, Cambridge and Chair of the Committee at Outpost, Norwich.

Alice Butler is a writer and editor based in London. Her writing has been published in a wide range of publications including frieze, Cabinet and E.R.O.S Journal, and she contributed the catalogue essay to the What Will They See of Me? exhibition at Jerwood Space, March 2013. She is arts and culture editor of the online magazine Review 31. In September this year she is due to start a PhD on the performance of confession in experimental women’s writing.
